BMW 7 Series Signature Edition, takes center stage at the Fashion One, Bridal fashion week. Rinku Madan talks to Frank Schloeder-Director marketing, about their first time partnership worldwide of BMW with fashion.
Rinku Madan – Why did you decide to become a long term partner/sponsor for the Bridal Fashion Week?
Frank Schloeder – The most opulent thing that happens in the life of an Indian is a wedding. Nowhere in the world is so much money spent on an occasion. “I have read somewhere a statistic, that 20% of a man’s wealth is spent on a wedding.”
Rinku Madan – What made you choose Bridal Fashion as opposed to Prêt?
Frank Schloeder – In my opinion, the ideologies of BMW and Bridal fashion week fit together very well. BMW gives sheer joy, attention to detail, craftsmanship etc. in short the best of everything, and bridal wear in India too depicts all of the above. Hence, the perfect fit.
Rinku Madan – You are first time sponsors for such an event?
Frank Schloeder – Yes, we have become sponsors of such a genre for the first time. We met Mr.Vijay Singh, who is the Chairman and MD of the Bridal Fashion Week, we shared a common vision of what we wanted to do and thereby the partnership took birth. We are long term partners for the Bridal fashion week.
Rinku Madan – What car have you launched for this event?
Frank Schloeder – We have launched the BMW 7 Series Signature Edition.
Rinku Madan – You are first time sponsors for such an event?
Frank Schloeder – Priced at Rs.1.22 crores, the BMW 7 Series Signature Edition has a Very Powerful 730 LD diesel engine. It has been upholstered with the finest leather and the best materials. Designed with ample leg space for passengers at the back seat, balanced in weight, while being fuel efficient all at the same time. It is a masterpiece and will be locally manufactured here in India. Another luxury car unveiled at this occasion is the BMW 760 Li Individual. Priced at 2.35 crores, it is totally imported.
Rinku Madan – What is luxury according to you?
Frank Schloeder – According to me luxury is a business. In my opinion, not many people understand luxury. Luxury is much deeper, a lot to do with indulgence, everyone has a personal choice. Luxury is a phenomenon when people are new to luxury, when one begins to get used to luxury, they become connoisseurs. And that is what we do, make people understand why the brand BMW is so important to luxury.
Rinku Madan – What is your favorite Champagne?
Frank Schloeder – Lacourte Godbillon
Rinku Madan – And Wine? What wine do you prefer?
Frank Schloeder – Clos de Vougeot. I love the pinot noir grape.
Rinku Madan – You are a connoisseur of luxury, what are your favorite watches?
Frank Schloeder – I do believe I am partial towards Omega, Panerai and Patek Phillippe.
