Lahori Gate ~ Gazala Akbar Sharma’s new kid on the block
Dilli ka Khana, served at Lohori Gate with Gazala Akbar Sharma
Gazala’s Story

At the heart of Mehar Chand Market, Lodhi Colony and in a culinary league all of it’s own, Lahori Gate is the creation of Gazala Akbar Sharma. A tribute to her mother Begum Imtiaz Akbar, who as I was told by Gazala Akbar Sharma, cooked meals for them bearing her Kashmiri lineage and Amritsar’s breeding. Some dishes served here like the Dal Ghost (outstanding), Palak Ghost, Keema (average), Yakhni Pulao etc are what Begum Akbar has passed on.

Gazala and her team serve as many of their recipes as a homage to her mother Begum Imtiaz Akbar. She tries to make each recipe as authentic as possible, in order to bring the true taste of Amritsar and Lahore to Indian guests.

Let the nostalgia surrounding Pakistani Punjab take you away.

Lahori Gate is a small restaurant, situated in Lodhi Colony. The restaurant offers some great recipes, but the Kebabs can be better.

The walls have an array of memorabilia in form of pictures of artists from Lahore and Amritsar. From Reshma to Madhubala to Noor Jehan etc.

That with her heart and hearth in the right place Gazala Akbar Sharma seems to be going places and is here to stay.
